A gold miner sued a California company that owns the Sierra Silver Mine in Nevada over alleged health and safety violations.
John Baez and his partners sued Goldcorp Inc., Hosta Silver, and other defendants in Nevada Superior Court on Monday.
They are seeking unspecified damages, alleging that the miners were injured in the 2010 accident at the gold mine.
Goldcorp says it’s committed to ensuring safety and conducting its business in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
Hosta Silver says it has made improvements to the site, including replacing equipment, installing new equipment, and providing health and medical screenings to employees and visitors.
Baez said in a statement Monday that his miners were on a routine inspection of the mine and it was not known at the time of the accident that they were in a dangerous situation.
